ABOUT RUHA ALFORD
Background Story
As a sweets-loving Persian American, Ruha Alford comes from a long line of storytellers from two sides of the world and considers herself a world citizen. She gave in to her love of the imaginary when she became a cast member at Disney World for a semester in college, which stuck with her until the time came to capture it in the pages of her debut YA Fantasy novel, where what glitters is not always gold.

Ruha is a member of the Baha'i Faith. (Just like Rainn Wilson. Look it up!) She graduated from Auburn University with a major in chemical engineering and always heeds the call to speak to the teens at her high school alma mater. She lives in the story-loving southern town of Zachary, Louisiana where she continues to write about fairy tale romances, flawed utopias, and girls who are more than capable of handling themselves.

STRICKEN is a 92,000 word YA Fantasy of espionage, legend, and court intrigue that will appeal to readers of Joan He's Descendant of the Crane and Victoria Aveyard's Red Queen. When a 17-year-old orphan aims to get the prince to fall in love with her, she risks death over a cursed life in the caste of her birth. After a betrayal leaves her poisoned, she must race to save the kingdom from the coup she helped facilitate.
"In service of both Fairdream Kingdom and the rebellion, I had to work twice as hard to earn my right to stay."
